Cloud Storage features at Cloudpap
Cloudpap Object Storage is based on Openstack Swift.
Cloud storage stores data in binary form on the server’s underlying operating system underlying file system.
Each object store has a metadata as part of the file attributes.
Components include a proxy server and storage nodes.
The proxy server provides a Restful API that allow transmission of Read and Write requests between clients and storage servers via HTTP protocol.
Clients use PUT to store data and GET to retrieve data.
Proxy Server receives the command and locate object using metadata and hashtags
Proxy server also confirm completion report for write actions on the storage nodes.
Proxy server ensures data is stored in replication state and also ensure erasure across the storage nodes in the server cluster.
There are four levels of unique location considered under cloudpap storage.
- Unique by Region – Different data Center locations
- Unique by Zone – Different of placement with the data center
- Unique by Server – Different storage servers
- Unique by Drive – Different storage harddrive
Cloudpap Storage store data in 3 unique locations within the cluster – in the event a hard drive fails the proxy server copies the data from one of the two healthy location to a new location to maintain 3 unique location of data location storage within the cluster.
Our cloudpap setup is a highly scalable model that allow limitless horizontal scaling.
Scaling involve additional of storage servers nodes with hard drives or solid state drives.
If there is need to scale the requests, cloudpap storage allow horizontal additional of additional proxy servers.
